A slip hook forms a noose which tightens when a load is applied and the latch ensures that the chain does not inadvertently slip out of the hook. The hook can be attached to a length of chain with a mid-link, shackle, or quick link through the eye. Care should always be taken to ensure that the means of attaching a hook to a length of chain has a sufficient Safe Work Load limit.
