BMR Group Opens a Second Urban Hardware Store

Montréal, February 28, 2019 – Following the success of its first store in Griffintown, Montréal, BMR Group is maintaining its momentum by opening a second La Shop BMR location this spring in the Town of Mount Royal. This new 6,600-square-foot space, located at 2372 Carré Lucerne, represents an opportunity for BMR Group to continue developing this new hardware store concept, designed chiefly for customers living in urban areas.

Like the Griffintown store, this new location will not only stock a wide range of smart products, hardware, and seasonal items, but also offer new product categories promoting eco-friendly consumerism. These include the ingenious One Bottle machine, which, for example, allows customers to refill their own soap bottles to reduce their ecological footprint; mini-greenhouses for year-round vegetable growing in the home; and a complete range of organic animal care products with 100% recyclable packaging. The sharing-economy concept will also be one of the strengths of the second La Shop, which will allow customers to borrow or rent tools, helping them save money and storage space.

“We are very proud to note the success of this innovative concept. Over the past decade, the retail sector has undergone significant changes that have had a major impact on how business is conducted. La Shop hardware stores, with their technology, local products, innovation, and environmentally responsible alternatives, are adapted to this new market’s needs, allowing us to broaden the horizons of the traditional hardware store concept,” explains Pascal Houle, CEO of BMR Group.

“The Griffintown store has allowed us to test out a multitude of ideas with a new client base, which has proven very receptive,” says Martin Lecomte, Vice-President of Retail at BMR Group. “With this second location, we’re maintaining La Shop’s modern and trendy look, but also building on our ideas so we can keep surprising our customers!”

La Shop is a new urban hardware store concept launched by BMR Group in spring 2018. Its unique offering is aimed primarily at customers living in urban areas, with products intended and designed for small living spaces. Smart products, storage solutions, a handyman service, and tool rental are just a few examples of what this new BMR Group brand has to offer. La Shop BMR stores are corporate stores owned by BMR Group.
