The antifreeze safety valve is installed on a 1/2" female brass fitting, usually at the beginning of the line, and can also be doubled for colder or lower areas. When the water temperature drops to 1°C, the valve opens, allowing a trickle of water to flow through to prevent freezing. When the temperature rises above 4°C, it automatically closes again until the next cycle.
