A clothesline has very specific requirements: • It must have low stretch so it will not sag under the weight of wet clothes. • It must be durable and maintain a round shape to run constantly and smoothly over pulleys. • It must have UV resistance to withstand degradation by constant exposure to sunlight. • Due to its low stretch, abrasion resistance, and UV-resistance, polyester is the perfect material for this application. • Cotton is often added to polyester in clotheslines for the softer to the touch feel of a polyester cotton blend.
