The type of cleaning changes with each work stage. Paintbrushes placed in clean water (latex paint) or in solvent (oil paint) can bathe for an hour. If you wish to store them overnight, rollers and paintbrushes should be wrapped in plastic film or aluminium paper and placed in the fridge. Clean them carefully if the work stages are a few days apart. Has the oil paint hardened the bristles? Dip the bristles in a pot with white vinegar and leave it on the stovetop for 10 minutes at low heat. Then, rinse with clean water and hang upside down to dry.

You have to pay for quality! A quality paintbrush has a heavy-duty metal ring that tightly holds the bristles together. On the subject of bristles: they must be fringed. The tip should be well trimmed and slightly bevelled, making paint application easier.

Fibres that are improperly tied to the roller will ruin your paint application. To get rid of them, simply apply masking tape around the roller and then remove it. This will avoid leaving any pesky fibres in the paint!

On walls and doors, crayon drawings usually show after one coat of paint. Make them disappear by scrubbing them with a humid cloth and some toothpaste. Then, simply rinse with clean water!
